Last month in our monthly ‘Marketing To Do’s’ series we recommended that ecommerce business owners start planning for the big sale periods that come at the end of every year by growing their email list. If you haven’t done this as yet, there is still time. You’ll find the blog post with our tips here.
Your Ecommerce Marketing Focus for April
Your Website Copy
That’s right, this month we’re recommending that you put yourself in your ideal customer’s shoes and read your website with their ‘problem in mind’. If your website doesn’t get your key message across to your ideal customer in a way that makes sense to them, you could be leaving money on the table.
In our FREE Ultimate Business Marketing Handbook we’ve given you a list of questions to ask yourself to help you audit your website copy. And if you need help with your sales copy you can reach out to us. Our experienced sales copywriters can assist with simple tweaks that could make all the difference to your bottom line.
End of the Financial Year Sales
April is a great month to start planning End of Financial Year Sales for your Australian based customers (EOFYS falls on 30th June). Whilst May and June is traditionally when these sales are run, you can get prepared by planning out your strategy now and getting your marketing assets ready. Starting now also gives you time to take new product shots or do a styled shoot to breathe new life into your sales emails and instagram feed. If you’re interested in running Google or Facebook Ads during this time contact us for our help in putting together a targeted campaign that maximises the budget you have to spend.
The new financial year in New Zealand kicks off on 1 April. If you’ve been running an end of financial year sale in NZ we recommend extending it into the first week or so of April – this is a great way to maximise your return on your investment and capture the interest of new email subscribers whilst they’re hot.

Easter Marketing Ideas for 2022
For some ecommerce store owners, what to promote this Easter will be obvious. If you’re a food retailer, for example, a simple idea is to curate a basket of products that your customers will enjoy consuming over the Easter holidays. But if that’s not you, you’ll need to apply some out of the box thinking to nail your Easter promotions this year.
You could get creative with a virtual Easter egg hunt which offers holiday discounts and rewards like free shipping. Unique hashtag campaigns, pop-ups, flash sales and contests are all great ways to engage your audience and have some fun this Easter.
